Pradnya Desh is an attorney, tech-startup CEO, and public servant who approaches every challenge as a skilled diplomat and design thinker—by listening first, defining the shared need, co-creating bold ideas, and iterating until the solution works. Her global outlook and deep Bellevue roots keep each step grounded in real-world impact.
Earlier in her career, Pradnya served as a U.S. diplomat and trade negotiator. She fought for American democratic values, and championed the benefits of globalization—not only to open markets and grow the economy, but also to keep goods affordable and expand access to housing. Throughout her service, she worked to protect the environment, support U.S. companies, and ensure that workers were never left behind.
Today, Pradnya serves as a Governor-appointed Trustee of Bellevue College, where she works to expand access and helps redefine higher education for tomorrow’s economy—starting with deep empathy for students, faculty, staff and the region's employers.
She is also the CEO of an AI company, where rapid iteration and user feedback turns cutting-edge technology into practical solutions. These results-oriented methods have earned her endorsements from the King County Democrats and many community leaders.
Pradnya is deeply involved in our community. She volunteers as a tutor for kids, serves on the Board of Music Works Northwest and helps lead kids worship at BelPres. She frequently speaks at events to help startups build great companies, and to help people learn how to use AI, driven by her belief that entrepreneurship and AI literacy can drive growth, equity and opportunity. She also mentors young women in entrepreneurship, helping future leaders navigate their own paths.
From housing to transportation, Pradnya has already advanced initiatives that make Bellevue more connected and inclusive. On City Council, she will apply design thinking—clarify needs, brainstorm openly, prototype quickly, measure relentlessly—to keep promising ideas from stalling and to ensure every policy delivers measurable results.
For the past 17 years, Pradnya and her husband have raised their three children in Bellevue. She is dedicated to keeping it a place where families thrive, innovation flourishes, and diverse viewpoints come together to shape a bright, shared future.
Join us in creating a community that thrives on inclusivity, innovation, and integrity.
More housing in underutilized commercial areas mean less traffic, cleaner air, a thriving local workforce, and more jobs. We need to make it possible for working families, seniors, and young people to live in Bellevue. Modernize zoning and streamline permitting so builders can move at the speed of demand.
Interconnected multi-modal transportation where we live, work and play to increase access and reduce traffic.
Advance inclusive policies that expand opportunity, and protect vulnerable communities. Oppose hate and unfair discrimination in all forms.
Support businesses that contribute to economic growth and employment. Support a “sandbox” to let startups pilot new AI logistics, clean-tech micro-grids, robotics without years of permitting delay. Cut business-license wait times. Unlock public-private capital so the next world-changing company can launch right here in Bellevue.
Promote walkability and safe bike paths. Protect green spaces, and expand clean energy.
Promote mental health support, transparency, and community trust along with well-funded police and fire services.
